HOLY SPIRIT, MY FRIEND, MY COUNSELOR
Let go!
Open up!
Allow me!
You are always asking for this but you won’t open up to receive!
The Holy Spirit nudged me in my spirit. I wanted to scream at Him. What did He want from me? Why won’t He leave me alone? I had given Him a part of me but no, he wants it all….
For weeks, I anticipated my birthday, anticipated the gifts I couldn’t wait to receive from my Abba. Yet here I was rejecting all that He had to give to me because I had formed the habit of holding back, so much that I didn’t know how to let Him in.
I stood on that stage watching as people were communing with the Holy Spirit and receiving from Him, and there I was, thinking why am I feeling like a stone pillar. I knew in my spirit that I had closed up and I couldn’t let go. Years of being hurt and disappointed constantly and healing in my own way by building walls around my heart, was robbing me of true intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
I desired to have koinonia with my Abba, but how could I have that when I wouldn’t allow him to break me and pour into me that sweet, heavenly fragrance that will draw people to come and drink from the well he has dug in me?
In as much as I held back, I knew there was one thing I could not deny. The sweetness of His presence. The warmth, the loving calm. How could I deny myself of this, when that was all my heart cried for? All those days of frustrations and moments of depression pointed to one thing! THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Holy Spirit, help me. Help me to let go. I don’t know how. Please I need you to help.
Without exaggeration or drama, I felt something give way. I broke down. Now who says such tears are not overwhelming? I felt such release I had not felt in like forever! I am not saying He is through with me yet. Oh no. this is the beginning. I dared to break my Alabaster box with the help of the Holy Spirit and this journey; I wouldn’t trade for all the Kelewele in Ghana.
Now these words ring true to me as each day passes with me enjoying my Abba like never before;
The day God apprehended me and got hold of me
It was for this purpose;
That I be a reservoir of His presence, love and other gifting,
Also his express image,
That I may show forth his glory and man may drink from the well He has dug.

ISINTU
Out of earth
He made me
Day before the Sabbath
He created me
In their image and likeness
So much He gave to me
The colors that filled the earth
The deep and blue sea
And all that is in
The greens of the fields
All edible and not
Even the last born of creation
He gave to me as helpmate
All he asked of us
Was to multiply
Take charge
And have dominion
Over all that He created
He has made me
God, soul and flesh
I might have sold my birthright
But by God! I take it back
A new dawn
A new day
A new life is birthed
I am number six
I
Am
MAN.
DOLOR!
My pillow gets wet
Especially when I see the little pink dresses
And the tiny shoes she wore.
My eyes get damp
Even so, when I stretch out my arm to her side of the bed
And I remember she sleeps under the cold tablet in the yard
My heart gets broken
When I touch my now flat belly
And recall she was there some few months ago
My lips quiver
When I turn around with a start cos he called my name
Only it was but the breeze tingling my ears
My shoulders tremble
When I watch him hug his little girl tightly
That was us some years ago.
My knees buckle
When I watch the tiny heads thrown back in fits of giggle in the park
As I remember my tiny head was run over at the corner of that street.
At the end
My whole body screams in despair
At the thought of all the ones I loved and lost
To death or to another
There I wish for some opium
To take me faraway to a place
That place where I soar
Painlessly
Effortlessly

MENABA
Today.
He chose to love her, today.
After countless floating castles,
and promises battling weights with feathers...
She has always been a bubbly and pretty belle. Full of body and life.
But no! He chose to squeeze it all out of her.
You see, he made her reject his seed times uncounted, while he claimed a latex allergy.
He had no allergies when it came to humping her.
No. He could have her, anyhow, anywhere and she always complied. Of course anything to make him happy.
Surely, Providence probably regrets imputing the issue of submissiveness in the Holy Writs or perhaps, He could just pardon her severe extremity-ness.
Yes, she could have other options; in control measures and in man. Yet she didn't. For someone who oozed such superficial confidence almost to the point of neck breaking feminism, it was overwhelming.
And today of all days he chose to love her.
When she was dressed in a pretty lace gown, face made up and nails done, just the way she loves it.
She was on her way to the huge cathedral. You see, another has claimed her. Maybe to love her in ways better and prudent than he ever did.
Most of the observers had mixed feelings. They were glad that another 'rescued' her. But what if...?
Oh and yes, they were mad at him. Why on earth will he choose today of all days to love her? To shed some tears from those pathetic slits in his face?
When she was all alone, struggling to hold on to the feet of her soul, to prevent its vacation of her body, was he there? No!
He was warming the sheets of another. And when finally she had been butchered and de-offal-ed, frozen and later left to thaw on the equally cold slab like an ostrich being readied for a banquet, he dared shed a tear?
Shameless!
And he is here bawling like a baby with colic. Maybe he won't get any like her; to be loved and to maltreat.
That he was audacious enough to shed tears when he had drove her into the arms of Earth and Hades is very baffling.

FLUMINA
Within and beneath
Lies a deep still well
Never been stirred
Never been fetched
Within and beneath
This still well
Lies a lonely treasure
Waiting
To be found
Waiting
To be taken
Within and beneath
This lonely treasure
Lies
A
Cold
Still
Heart,
Reaching
For passion
To live
Once more

KENJE!
They call me crazy
Just because i go round
In rags and underwashed
Hair almost auburn
Though i know i have enough melanin
I sit at the square and listen
As they spin tales
About the origin of my madness
Especially about me being a man snatcher
I laugh so hard and clap
Who needs a man?
When these demons keep.me busy?
I watch them everytime
Those market women
Fat behinds and stinky sweat pits
And those men
Always tugging briefcases behind them
With silk ropey things choking them.
And they call me crazy?
Aha!
Have you seen those ones
Who sit behind the wheel of the kiakia trucks?
Their eyes depict madness
As they dart from east to west and back
Noses flared,
In their bid to squeeze their dingy lorries
Into the traffic frenzy
Their breath can scald
And not just the temperature
And to think i am the crazy one
I find the men particularly amusing
Those constraining outfits
In this hot damp atmosphere
When I see them
I laugh so hard and clap
That's when they think
I fancy them
But tell me
Who needs a man?
When these demons keep me busy?

SILENT SIREN
THE SILENT SIREN
I sit here in solitude
With this black darkness
Embracing me
Engulfing me
Almost choking
This is where you pop up
And scream 'April Fool!'
Sadly, this aint no prank
The Silent Siren
Placed his clichéd icy hands on you
He comes in that deafening silence
And leaves us empty
Save the wailing
I sometimes imagine
Placing fiery fingers around his icy neck
And snuffing it out of him
But how?
He is so silent
And stealth
And sudden
Alas! The Silent Siren soundeth and striketh, yet again.
Hmmph!
Inspired by Jo.
For the lil soldier
And many others....
